The Hammers beat the Croatians 2-0 in their Europa League opener and winning the group is now in our hands.
What a brilliant performance it was from West Ham on Thursday night.
David Moyes would have been delighted with the way in which his players performed.
One player who shone in particular was Declan Rice.
After the 22-year-old scored a tremendous solo goal, he went right in front of the Dinamo Zagreb supporters to celebrate. One of his teammates wasn’t too happy though.
Ryan Fredericks says he was raging with Declan Rice after he ‘bottled it’
The 28-year-old is very close friends with Dec and he spoke to Whufc.com about our win in Zagreb.
Fredericks said that he and Rice had a celebration planned if he scored, which he did of course, but the midfielder didn’t keep his side of the bargain:
“Dec was in a different gear. The tougher the game, the better he plays. I was a bit raging with him because we had a little celebration planned if either of us scored, and he bottled it, so I wasn’t too happy with that!”
Fredericks was clearly speaking in jest. It will be interesting to see what the duo have planned, however, if either one of them scores when playing together this season.
The 28-year-old staked a claim for more regular action with a fine display against Zagreb on Thursday night. So there is every chance that we will see the best friends in action together for West Ham in the near future.
Rice is usually up for some very eccentric celebrations. He has proved that in the past. So one can only imagine what he had lined up with Fredericks on Thursday night!
