And the Sun claims that the Hammers will have to pay £4 million for the Hornets defender.
David Moyes was clearly desperate to bring in a new centre-back on transfer deadline day. But he ended up empty handed.
We still have a chance to make something happen, however.
The window for Premier League clubs to sign Championship players is open until October 16th.
And the Evening Standard claims that West Ham are focusing on a move for Watford centre-back Craig Dawson.
The 30-year-old has been a decent player throughout the years, but signing him will not get the Hammers fans excited.
Stats
In 29 Premier League appearances last season, Dawson averaged one tackle, 1.2 interceptions, 3.8 clearances and 1.1 blocks per game. He also won an average of 3.5 aerial duals per match (Who Scored).
Dawson is strong in the air, battle-hardened and has a no-nonsense approach to the game.
We really should be doing a lot better, however.
The simple fact is that signings like Dawson are just a run of the mill occurrence under the ownership of David Sullivan and David Gold now.
Let’s just hope we don’t suffer too many injuries this season and end up enjoying a decent, stress-free campaign.
