Hammers boss David Moyes undoubtedly needs to bring an established centre-forward to the London Stadium this summer.
Sebastien Haller and Xande Silva are the only recognised centre-forwards at West Ham as things stand.
And that should be a real concern heading into the new season.
And RAI journalist Ciro Venerato claimed two days ago that the Hammers could make a move to sign veteran Spaniard Fernando Llorente in an effort to address that issue.
Il Mattino now suggest that West Ham have actually made contact with the Napoli hitman ahead of a potential bid.
Bringing Llorente to east London makes little sense, however.
At 35, the Napoli hitman is well past his best. He scored just four goals in 24 games for the Serie A outfit last season (Transfermarkt).
West Ham need to be signing young, dynamic, mobile and energetic players this summer. Moyes has admitted himself on numerous occasions that that is the exact profile of player he wants to bring to the London Stadium.
And Llorente clearly doesn’t fit into that category.
This is one we should avoid this summer.
