The Hammers completed the signing of the 28-year-old goalkeeper on a season-long loan from Paris Saint-Germain during the summer transfer window.
West Ham are believed to have an £11 million purchase option on the Frenchman as well (Wyn Foot).

Areola has only played two competitive games for the Hammers so far but he already looks the business.
The Frenchman is absolutely huge and is a great shot-stopper.
He is commanding in the air and exceptionally good with the ball at his feet.
We really do have very good goalkeeper on our hands. But the credit for his signing should be given to someone else other than David Moyes apparently…

West Ham signing Areola wasn’t all down to Moyes
According to The Athletic, Areola was recommended to David Moyes by goalkeeping coach Xavi Valero.
And what great recommendation that was from the Spaniard!
Valero is very highly respected at the London Stadium. He joined as part of the coaching staff in the summer of 2018 and bringing the Spaniard to the club will probably go down as one of only a few things that Manuel Pellegrini did right during his time in East London!
If he did recommend Areola as is being reported then it proves how good an eye he has for a top class goalkeeper.
