Report claims West Ham can sign 23-year-old for just £18m

According to a report from Super Deporte, West Ham will be able to sign Valencia ace Mouctar Diakhaby for just £18 million.

ExWHUemployee claimed on Thursday that the Hammers have made an enquiry for the 23-year-old centre-back.

David Moyes’s need to bring a new centre-back to the London Stadium is clear and obvious for everyone to see.

We have tried, and failed, to sign Burnley ace James Tarkowski.

Whilst Daniele Rugani (Corriere Torino), Duje Caleta-Car (the Sun) and Nikola Milenkovic (Gianluca Di Marzio) have all been linked with moves to West Ham.

Valencia ace Mouctar Diakhaby could be a decent alternative to all of those names, however.

And Super Deporte claims that the Hammers could pick the towering Frenchman up for £18 million before Monday’s deadline.

That kind of fee could be considered an absolute bargain considering the Valencia ace’s age and potential.

Stats

Diakhaby made 21 La Liga appearances for Valencia last season. In those outings, the Frenchman averaged 0.5 tackles, 0.5 interceptions, 3.5 clearances and 0.7 blocks per game. He also won an average of 1.8 aerial duals per match (Who Scored).

The 23-year-old is an extremely mobile defender with plenty of pace. He seems like he could be one for the future, but it may be risky to spend a lot of cash on someone who has no experience of playing Premier League football.

It just remains to be seen whether David Sullivan and David Gold are prepared to part with £18 million for someone who is still somewhat of an unknown commodity.
