According to a report from Portuguese media outlet Record, West Ham and Everton are battling it out to sign Benfica winger Jota.

Signing a winger should be far from Moyes’s priority. But West Ham should be on the look-out for young exciting talent nevertheless, whatever position they play.

The same can be said of Toffees boss Carlo Ancelotti at Goodison Park. Everton have already spent heavily this summer, bringing in the likes of James Rodriguez and Abdoulaye Doucoure.

But the addition of another talented wide player, preferably a youngster with a lot of promise, would not go a miss at Everton.

And Jota really would be an exciting addition for either the Hammers or the Toffees.

Stats

The 21-year-old racked up three assists and two goals in 27 games for Benfica last season (Transfermarkt).

The Portugal under-21 international started just six of those games, however.

Jota is incredibly talented. He can play on either wing, in the number 10 position, or even as an auxiliary striker.

Well-renowned Portuguese website Tuga Scout has described ‘top talent’ Jota as one of the most highly regarded youth players to come out of Benfica’s highly illustrious academy and a player with ‘dazzling trickery’.

The 21-year-old seems to have all of the raw ingredients needed to go on and become a real star in the game.

It just remains to be seen whether West Ham can beat Everton to the young ace’s signature this summer.
