Rafa Benitez is the most likely replacement for West Ham United manager David Moyes, if the Scot gets the sack.

That’s according to a report from Italian publication CalcioMercato who claim that the Hammers boss is under real pressure at the moment.

Moyes is on really thin ice in his role at the London Stadium, with the likes of Nuno Espirito Santo and Rafa Benitez being touted as a potential replacements for him.

It’s little wonder as to why Moyes is being heavily tipped for the sack. His West Ham team are currently sitting inside the relegation zone with 15 points from 19 Premier League games so far. And that comes after the Scot spent £170 million on eight new players in the summer transfer window.

Anything other than a win against Everton this weekend will undoubtedly seal his fate.

And of he is moved on, it seems as though one man in particular is the favourite to take over from him…

Rafa in if David Moyes gets the sack

CalcioMercato reckon that the Scot could be replaced by Rafa Benitez sooner rather than later. In fact, it is suggested that the Spaniard is the most likely candidate to replace Moyes.

Benitez has an extensive and successful record in football management, with two La Liga titles, a Champions League, an FA Cup and a Europa League to his name.

He has enjoyed successful spells with Valencia and Liverpool, but has endured hard times with the likes of Newcastle and Everton.

Rafa would be a massive upgrade on Moyes. However, it’s worth noting that the Spaniard is a really pragmatic coach, and I definitely don’t think that he’s the man to take us forward as club over the next few years.

That said, I do believe that he would keep us up comfortably, something that Moyes is unable of doing in my opinion.

If David Moyes gets the sack, it seems as though Rafa will be the man to come in and take the reigns at the London Stadium.

And that will be good enough for us between now and the end of the season, but no more than that.
