Paul Merson suggested that Arsenal forward Alexandre Lacazette would be a good signing for West Ham, when speaking on Sky Sports News (1:19pm, January 2nd, 2021).

The 29-year-old joined the Gunners from Lyon in the summer of 2017 for around £46 million (Goal).

The Frenchman has gone on to rack up 57 goals and 25 assists in 146 games for Arsenal (Transfermarkt).

Alexandre Lacazette is currently in the midst of somewhat of a purple patch at the Emirates, with four goals to his name in his last three games.

It is unclear as to what his future holds in north London under Mikel Arteta, however.

Alexandre Lacazette a good fit for West Ham says Paul Merson

The Arsenal hitman would suit West Ham United according to Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson:

“There would be a lot queuing up for him, a lot queuing up for him, I mean, a lot. West Ham, he would suit West Ham. He brings players in, and they have got legs around at West Ham.”

Alexandre Lacazette is out of contract with Arsenal in the summer of 2022 – by which time he will be 31.

The former Lyon ace currently earns £180k-a-week with the Gunners (Spotrac).

Lacazette is a very good, technically gifted player, but a move to West Ham would surely not work, not least financially.

David Moyes has repeatedly insisted that he wants to bring young, hungry and athletic players to the London Stadium.

The 29-year-old Arsenal ace clearly doesn’t fit into that category.

Paul Merson was obviously just speculating. Even so, this surely won’t be a transfer that happens anytime soon.
