But still, somehow, Hammers fans were left irked by pathetic coverage on BBC’s Match of the Day.
The flagship show has been on the wane for years. And football fans tend to only tune in nowadays if their team has won.

But the analysis from host Gary Lineker and Micah Richards was pathetic.
The duo rightly praised Jesse Lingard’s performance.
But there was not one mention of the team’s display or the season West Ham are having under David Moyes.
That’s despite the Hammers win consolidating fifth place in the table and taking them within two points of fourth-placed Liverpool after 22 games.

As if that was not bad enough, MOTD pundits Lineker and Richards then brushed off the match as an ‘off day’ for Aston Villa, praising the season they were having instead.
Incredulous West Ham fans took to social media to vent their spleens at the snub.
But Hammers supporters are used to it by now.
This is West Ham’s best season for 35 years. But you wouldn’t know it based on media coverage.
West Ham fans have sat back and watched the likes of Everton, Aston Villa, Southampton and even Leeds (Sky Sports) grab all the attention. There were even segments on Newcastle after their good start to the season.
Indeed all those clubs have been subject of in-depth analysis about their chances of winning the Premier League title or qualifying for Europe.

Hammers star Aaron Cresswell recently acknowledged West Ham have not received the credit they perhaps deserve (whufc.com).
And a snobbery about West Ham has not gone unnoticed by talkSPORT presenter Adrian Durham either.
West Ham fans were angered by the lack of praise and analysis of their side. On the flip side many supporters are happy to see their team fly under the radar. Indeed Moyes probably is too.
But West Ham finally have a team to be proud of and the club’s long suffering fans deserve to see them get a bit of recognition.
Match of the Day will only have themselves to blame if West Ham fans start to boycott the ailing show.
