Winston Reid hasn’t played for West Ham since March 2018.

The experienced Kiwi left the London Stadium to link up with Sporting Kansas City on loan in February.

He was forced to wait until August before making his debut for the MLS side, however, due to the global health crisis.

Due to Reid’s injury problems, many West Ham fans thought that his time in east London was up when he left for America.

That may not be the case now, however.

Reid, who joined the Hammers from FC Midtjylland in the summer of 2010 for around £5.5 million (Eurosport), has been in fine form in the MLS.

The 25-capped New Zealand international has made 10 league appearances for Sporting Kansas City, and he has scored one goal so far.

In those outings, Reid has averaged 1.1 tackles, 1.5 interceptions and 3.6 clearances per game. He has also won an average of 2.1 aerial duals per match (Who Scored).

The Kiwi has been in great form of late, helping his side to finish in top spot in the MLS Western Conference.

He was named in the MLS Soccer team of the week after the latest round of fixtures.

If Reid can maintain his fitness between now and the end of the MLS season, and prove his durability, he may well still have a future at West Ham.

The 32-year-old is under contract with the Hammers until 2023 after all.

And David Moyes could really use Reid’s experience, know how and quality when the centre-back returns to the London Stadium.
