According to a report from The Mirror (November 1st, page 61), West Ham are interested in signing Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic in January.

The Hammers are very weak in the centre-forward department.

Michail Antonio predictably pulled up with a hamstring problem last weekend against Manchester City.

And the jury is still out on Sebastien Haller. The Frenchman either needs to adapt his game to suit David Moyes’s new found system or the Scot needs to change his tactics. It’s as simple as that.

But according to The Mirror, West Ham are eyeing a move for Real Madrid ace Luka Jovic in order to address their attacking deficiencies.

It is claimed that Los Blancos boss Zinedine Zidane is ready to make the eight-capped Serbia international available on loan in January with a view to a permanent move in the summer.

The 22-year-old joined Real Madrid from Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer of 2019 for around £55 million (AS).

At the same time, Sebastien Haller left the Bundesliga club for the Hammers for around £45 million (BBC).

The £100 million duo forged a wonderful partnership during their time together in Frankfurt.

In 89 combined appearances, Jovic and Haller racked up a very impressive 47 goals and 19 assists between them. So reuniting the two players could be a masterstroke from David Moyes.

Jovic has struggled since moving to the Santiago Bernabeu 16 months ago. He has registered just two goals and two assists in 31 games for the La Liga giants (Transfermarkt).

The Serbian seems lost at Madrid. He is still a quality player, and perhaps just needs a change in order to rediscover his best form.

And where better for him to do exactly that than at West Ham where he could link up with his old mate Sebastien Haller?

It is probably somewhat of pipe dream. But stranger things have happened in football. And if David Moyes manages to bring Jovic to the London Stadium on loan with an option to buy, it would be a truly terrific piece of business for West Ham.
