More misery on the horizon for David Moyes as Aston Villa and West Brom enter talks to sign midfielder

According to a report from the Guardian, Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher is in talks with Aston Villa and West Brom. And it seems as though West Ham boss David Moyes could be set to miss out on YET ANOTHER transfer target.

In other news…Don Hutchison absolutely raves about ‘fantastic’ player West Ham reportedly want to sign

The Northern Echo claimed last month that Moyes wanted to bring the young midfielder to the London Stadium this summer. In fact, it was suggested that the east London outfit were especially hopeful of securing a deal for the Chelsea starlet.

The 57-year-old Scot is desperate to add some young and hungry players to his ranks at West Ham this summer.

But it seems as though Gallagher will not be rocking up at the London Stadium any time soon.

Aston Villa boss Dean Smith and West Brom manager Slaven Bilic are both in talks to sign the 20-year-old, according to the Guardian.

So it seems as though there is a good chance he will be plying his trade at either Villa Park or the Hawthorns next season.

And that will obviously be a big blow for West Ham.

Stats

The 20-year-old spent the first half of last season on loan at Charlton Athletic and the second half on loan at Swansea City.

In 45 combined Championship games for both clubs, he racked up six goals and 11 assists in what was a fine campaign for the youngster (Transfermarkt).

Chelsea owned Gallagher demonstrated what an incredibly talented young player he is in England’s second tier this season. It just remains to be seen whether he is ready to take the step up to the next level.

It would take a brave man to bet against him going on to enjoy a successful Premier League career, however.

And unfortunately for West Ham, it seems as though we are destined to miss out on a seriously promising player.

Aston Villa or West Brom’s gain will be our loss.
