Don Hutchison has taken to Twitter to praise alleged West Ham target James Tarkowski.

In other news…Report: Moyes offered chance to bring 23-year-old to West Ham for £16m

The Hammers were said to have made a £27 million bid for the Burnley centre-back a couple of days ago, according to the Telegraph.

David Moyes desperately needs to bolster his defensive ranks at the London Stadium this summer.

But let’s be honest. As things stand, signing Tarkowski seems highly unlikely. Especially considering the fact that Burnley are actually asking for closer to £50 million for the 27-year-old (The Sun).

We have sold Grady Diangana to West Brom for around £20 million. And the club have already confirmed that all of that money will be reinvested in the team (WHUFC.com).

So perhaps David Moyes will have to sell at least one more of his key players if he is to bring in some genuine quality this summer.

And maybe Tarkowski would not then be out of our reach.

Former Hammers Don Hutchison raved about the 27-year-old Burnley ace on Twitter the other day:

Tarkowski enjoyed a great campaign with Burnley last season. And he would undoubtedly be a superb addition for us.

Stats

The 27-year-old played all 38 Premier League games for the Clarets, and racked up two goals and two assists in the process (Who Scored).

In those outings, Tarkowski averaged 1.7 tackles, 1.7 interceptions, 5.3 clearances and 1.2 blocks per game (Who Scored).

He also won an average of 5.2 aerial duals per game during those appearances (Who Scored).

Those statistics really are very impressive. And West Ham fans will know just how good he is, having watched him dominate defensively against the Hammers back in July.

Let’s just hope that things turn around quickly at the London Stadium. Who knows? Perhaps the owners will surprise us before the transfer window slams shut.

And the signing of James Tarkowski would be an absolutely massive statement from West Ham.
