Marca have claimed that Liverpool are considering a mammoth swoop for Sevilla defender Diego Carlos. And if the Reds sign the centre-back, it might just open the door for West Ham to swoop in for Aissa Mandi.

El Desmarque claimed recently that the Hammers want to sign the 28-year-old Real Betis defender. But unfortunately for West Ham, Liverpool want him too according to the Mirror.
Mandi is available for around £10.8 million this summer (Mirror). That would represent excellent value for the Hammers, especially considering the fact that the 55-capped Algeria international can play at centre-back and right-back.
If it is a straight fight between Liverpool and West Ham for Mandi, there will surely only be one winner.
But perhaps the Hammers have just caught a break.
Marca reckon Reds boss Jurgen Klopp wants to bring Sevilla ace Diego Carlos to Anfield this summer. The 27-year-old Brazilian has a huge €75 million (£67 million) release clause inserted into his deal with the La Liga club according to Marca.
So if Liverpool sign Carlos, they surely won’t go for Mandi as well.
Stats
In 29 La Liga outings for Betis this season, Mandi averaged 1.1 tackles, 1.3 interceptions and three clearances per game. He also won an average of 2.1 aerial duals per game during those appearances (Who Scored).
The 6ft centre-back is extremely mobile and he is also strong in the air. Mandi would be an undoubted upgrade on Fabian Balbuena and would provide stringent competition for Issa Diop and Angelo Ogbonna.
David Moyes desperately needs to bring an established centre-back to the London Stadium this summer. Let’s just hope that Liverpool do end up signing Diego Carlos, because it would make our path to signing Aissa Mandi a whole lot clearer.
