Jesse Lingard allegedly would love the opportunity to move back to West Ham United on a free transfer this summer.
That’s according to football journalist Peter O’Rourke who told Give Me Sport that Lingard ticks all the boxes for Hammers boss David Moyes and the player himself is keen to return to East London.

Re-signing Lingard is undoubtedly a no-brainer for West Ham manager David Moyes.
The 29-year-old would be a very strong addition to this Hammers team. We all know how well he fits into David Moyes’s counter-attacking setup at the London Stadium.
It’s a shame that he didn’t stay with West Ham after his loan spell this time last year. Instead, he returned to Manchester United and essentially wasted a year of his career.
He’s now available on a free transfer. Yesterday, Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth claimed that West Ham have actually made an offer to Lingard’s agents.
And it seems as though the 29-year-old is keen to return to the London Stadium this summer…
Jesse Lingard wants to move back to West Ham
Peter O’Rourke has told Give Me Sport how the 32-capped England international would love the opportunity to play for the Hammers again:
“I think we all know West Ham’s desire to bring Jesse Lingard back to the club. They tried to do it in January but weren’t able to do it. He ticks all the boxes, I think, for David Moyes and I’m sure Jesse Lingard would love the opportunity to go back to West Ham.”
Sorry to sound cynical, but this one just doesn’t ring true to me.
If it was the case, the 29-year-old would already be a West Ham player in my opinion. And it was only a couple of weeks ago when The Sun claimed that Jesse actually wants to join Newcastle instead of the Hammers.
Moyes chased the attacking midfield play-maker all of last summer and in January as well. And West Ham were left empty-handed.
It should be a very simply choice for Jesse. Either come back to the London Stadium or move somewhere else. Moyes really can’t afford to be chasing the 29-year-old all summer long again.
If West Ham is the dream destination for Lingard though, this one should be a very easy transfer to get done.
