According to a report from the Daily Star, West Ham are interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah this summer.
In other news…Timing now perfect for West Ham to seal reported marquee double deal
Hammers boss David Moyes has been linked with moves for multiple centre-backs this summer already.
But as things stand, we appear to be no closer to actually signing anyone.
Our need to sign an established centre-half is clear and obvious for everyone to see.
And the Daily Star claims that West Ham could make a move to sign Bayer Leverkusen ace Jonathan Tah.
The 10-capped Germany international would be a truly exceptional addition for the Hammers.
He really does have everything we need, what with his pace, power and aerial dominance.
Stats
Tah made 25 Bundesliga appearances for Leverkusen last season. In those outings, the 24-year-old averaged 1.4 tackles, 1.1 interceptions, 3.8 clearances and 0.5 blockers per game. He also won an average of 2.9 aerial duals per match during that period of games (Who Scored).
The Leverkusen ace is incredibly experienced despite his relatively tender years.
The Germany international is extremely strong and is a superb man marker.
There is one problem, however. Bild claims that Leverkusen value Tah at around £33 million. And considering our current financial problems, that may prove to be a bit of a stretch.
But this is one that we just need to get done. The 24-year-old would improve our defence immeasurably. No more dithering please David…just get it done.
