David Moyes wants to bring the 28-year-old back to the London Stadium in January according to The Daily Mail and club insiders Claret and Hugh.

Lingard enjoyed a wonderful four-month spell with West Ham on loan from Manchester United last season.

The 32-capped England international bagged nine goals and four assists in 16 Premier League games for the Hammers.

A return to West Ham for Jesse seems very likely in January. There may well be a small problem to overcome for the Hammers though.

Louie Scott, Lingard’s brother and agent, put the cats amongst the pigeons yesterday when he took to Instagram to comment on post suggesting the the clock is ticking down to Jesse’s Hammers return:

The Manchester United man’s brother then began answering lots of different comments from the West Ham fans…

The most interesting line there is that last one.

”It’s always been out of our hands.”

Does that mean that Lingard wants to return to West Ham but he is being prevented from doing so?

And if so, prevented by whom? Ole Gunnar Solskjaer? The Manchester United owners?

It’s all very cryptic.

We’re still certain that if the Hammers make a strong move to sign the 28-year-old in January, he will come back to the London Stadium.

David Moyes clearly likes him a lot and Jesse obviously doesn’t have much of a future at Old Trafford.

A London Stadium return for Jesse should really be a no-brainer for all parties concerned.

All we can do is keep our fingers crossed that we manage to get the deal over the line in January.

Lingard would strengthen us as a team and a squad considerably.
