That isn’t to say that we didn’t cause them any problems though. On another night, the result could have easily ended up in our favour.

One bonus from the night was Michail Antonio getting on the score-sheet. Micky hadn’t bagged since March before last night.

The 32-year-old leads the line on his own for West Ham week in, week out. He is the only centre-forward option David Moyes has at his disposal at the London Stadium and as a result, he barely gets any rest. So sometimes, the criticism aimed at him is a little harsh.

And one of his teammates has highlighted just how important Antonio is to this current West Ham team.

The 25-year-old Hammers attacker wasn’t at his best last night but he nearly earned us a point with an unbelievable overhead kick that cannoned back off the crossbar deep into injury time.

Bowen offered praise to Antonio though, when asked by WHUFC.com about West Ham’s performance against Frankfurt last night:

“He hasn’t been scoring but Antonio’s hold-up play has been unbelievable. He’s horrible to play against, I’m sure if you asked any defender, and to get a goal tonight, I was buzzing for him. Hopefully it gives him a bit of confidence and he goes on a run.”

Antonio does work incredibly hard for the team but at the end of the day, he’s a centre-forward and he really should be scoring more regularly.

His goal last night may well now set him off on a run.

Jarrod Bowen believes that the West Ham ace’s goal against Eintracht Frankfurt last night could be the spark that he needs to finish off the season in fine form.

And let’s hope Bowen is right because the Hammers need an in-form Antonio now more than ever.
