The 31-year-old Hammers centre-back is a battle-hardened, old school defender.

He has proven to be a very good signing for West Ham.

David Moyes brought him to the London Stadium on loan this time last year before making his deal a permanent one in the summer for around £2 million.

Dawson is often criticised for his lack of technical ability but what cannot be questioned is his commitment and attitude.

The 24-year-old West Ham attacker shared how Dawson is an incredibly hard player to train against.

Bowen told the Premier League’s YouTube channel:

“I think I might go Daws. At 5-a-side, he would just clamp everyone. He just clamps anything that moves. Like me and him, we didn’t fall out, but I’m like, ‘Don’t do that again, please’. Like the other day, I was nowhere near him, but somehow he’s trod my toe.”

Bowen’s comments on Dawson prove just how seriously the centre-back takes training sessions.

That’s a very good thing. The former Watford ace lays absolutely everything on the line.
