Jamie Redknapp raved about West Ham ace Tomas Soucek, when speaking on Sky Sports’ production of yesterday’s game (Sunday, December 27th, 16:08).
The 25-year-old bailed us out yet again yesterday, scoring our second equaliser of the game with 10 minutes remaining against Brighton.
The Czech Republic international has been a superb addition for us since joining from Slavia Prague on a £15 million deal in July (Daily Mail), having impressed during a loan spell from January.
Tomas Soucek makes us tick. The midfielder’s energy, dynamism and athleticism has been so impressive. He is a massive threat from set-pieces too. The former Slavia Prague ace has racked up seven goals in 28 games for West Ham so far (Transfermarkt).
It looks like the Hammers have secured themselves an absolute bargain.
Jamie Redknapp suggested that David Moyes has found his new Marouane Fellaini, when speaking on Sky Sports’ production of yesterday’s game (Sunday, December 27th, 16:08):
“Soucek, you know what you’re going to get with him. He has become West Ham’s Fellaini. David Moyes knows what he’s going do so he gets it direct to him, second half we saw them loading the box and we expected him to be involved in another goal but it didn’t quite happen.”
Comparing Soucek to Fellaini doesn’t really do the Czech ace justice.
Jamie Redknapp has a point but the West Ham ace offers so much more than the Belgian ever did. He doesn’t stop running for a start.
The one worry we all have is that because of our lack of strength in depth, David Moyes may well run the 25-year-old into the ground. Let’s just hope that the owners back the Scot in the transfer market because if they don’t, it could be a long, hard and physically punishing second-half of the season for players like Tomas Soucek.
