The 21-year-old has been the Hammers best and most consistent player over the past couple of years.
He is a constant driving force for us in the middle of the park.
The West Ham ace is brilliant at breaking up the opposition’s play and initiating attacks. It seems as though Rice is evolving into more of a box-to-box type midfielder as well.
The England international’s energy and stamina levels enable him to get up and down the pitch throughout the entirety of the 90 minutes.
He put in another top class display against Tottenham yesterday.
And Jamie Carragher raved about Declan Rice, when speaking during Sky Sports’ production of yesterday’s game between Tottenham and West Ham (October 18th, 16:29):
“I’ve been really impressed with Rice in his last few performances for West Ham and also England. He doesn’t see himself as just a defensive midfield player and has been making some marauding runs forward. I’ve been really impressed.”
Declan Rice was heavily linked with an exit from West Ham during the summer transfer window. And David Moyes will be absolutely delighted that the managed to keep the 21-year-old at the London Stadium.
Let’s just hope that we can match his ambition both on and off the pitch.
Because if he enjoys another great season, some of the world’s biggest clubs will undoubtedly come knocking for his signature once against next summer.
