The East London outfit have been heavily linked with a move to sign the 24-year-old for around two years now (The Sun, Gabigol’s agent Junior Pedroso and The Daily Mail).

The Brazilian ended up return to his homeland, however. He swapped Inter Milan for Flamengo in January last year, having spent the previous season on loan at the Maracana.

Barbosa has scored 68 goals in 96 games for the Brazilian giants. Last season, he racked up 21 goals in 38 games (Transfermarkt). That’s more goals than Michail Antonio and Jesse Lingard scored combined last term!

“I really enjoyed the West Ham season. I’m a big fan of Premier League football.”

That could very well be taken as a come and get me plea.

The Hammers desperately need a new striker. The Brazilian would be a very exciting addition, despite his previous struggles in Europe.

His alleged £40 million valuation (The Express) would undoubtedly represent a problem for David Moyes and West Ham, however.
