Former West Ham United star Sofiane Feghouli saw red when he came up against another ex Hammer on Sunday.
Algerian winger Feghouli was a player who really divided opinion among West Ham fans.
He signed for the Hammers on a free transfer in the summer of 2016 from Valencia.
Feghouli had a reputation for his silky skills and eye for goal.
And it is fair to say West Ham fans were excited about the then 27-year-old’s arrival.
West Ham flop Feghouli finally gets physical… too physical
But he flopped with just four goals in 27 appearances and a number of below-par displays.
Many felt he was starting to come into his own towards the end of his short stay.
But he was swiftly moved on to Galatasaray in August 2017 for around £3.5 million, according to BBC Sport.
The player himself has since admitted English football was too physical for him (Actu Foot).
Former Irons winger red-carded for kicking another ex-Hammer
Well Feghouli certainly got physical during Gala’s latest match.
The winger was shown a straight red card after kicking another former Hammer – Morocco defender Manuel Da Costa – in the chest during Galatasaray’s 3-1 defeat to Trabzonspor.
Da Costa, made 31 appearances and scored three goals for West Ham between 2009 and 2011, was also booked for his challenge on Feghouli which sparked the reaction.
Ref uses pitchside monitor before sending Feghouli off
Both players went down writhing in pain while the referee checked the VAR pitchside monitor and elected to send Feghouli off.
The game was covered by BT Sport and the match commentators pondered whether the pair had crossed paths at West Ham.
But of course they didn’t, there was a five-year gap between Da Costa’s departure and Feghouli’s arrival in 2016.
You can watch the incident in the BT Sport’s Twitter video below.
“Galatasaray have pushed the self destruct button.”
We haven’t seen a red card like this for a while! 😳
