Felipe Anderson looks all set to return to Lazio from West Ham.
The 28-year-old made his £36 million (BBC) move to the Hammers from the Italian capital back in the summer of 2018.
Despite impressing initially, Anderson’s form began to nose-dive midway through the 2019/20 campaign.
The Brazilian was shipped out to Porto on loan last season but he experienced similar problems in Portugal.
The loan move was a disastrous one for Anderson, West Ham and of course Porto.
His value plummeted as a consequence of his torrid time in Portugal and ExWHUemployee reckons that we will get just £2.3 million when he returns to Lazio.
At least we will be getting his massive wages off of our books.
It’s a shame how things worked out for the South American at the London Stadium.
Felipe Anderson Lazio bound…photo sums up West Ham career perfectly
The 28-year-old has so much talent but unfortunately he just doesn’t seem to fit into the robust and intense nature of Premier League football. And he certainly isn’t a David Moyes type player.
One photo taken on Friday during our pre-season friendly clash with Dundee sums up Anderson’s West Ham career perfectly:
We wish Felipe all the best in his future endeavours.
The Brazilian and the Hammers were never really a match made in heaven. And hopefully West Ham as a club learn from signing expensive players with no thought as to how they will actually fit into the system.
In fairness to David Moyes, he does seem to be slowly changing that. And long may that continue.
