West Ham failed to sign Arnaut Danjuma from Villarreal in the summer transfer window because his wage demands were too high.
That’s according to Fabrizio Romano who told CaughtOffside that the Hammers showed the strongest interest in signing the 25-year-old attacker.

West Ham were believed to be close to sign the £39 million-rated forward in the summer (Marca).
Its seems as though that wasn’t necessarily the case though…
West Ham didn’t sign Arnaut Danjuma because of wage demands
The Holland international asked for far too much money from the Hammers in the summer.
That’s according to Fabrizio Romano who told CaughtOffside why Danjuma’s proposed move to the London Stadium collapsed:
“Despite links with Newcastle and some other clubs, the real interest was there from West Ham. They wanted Danjuma but the deal collapsed because of personal terms, there was no agreement with the player.”
Missing out on Danjuma was a real shame as far as we’re concerned.
He would have been an exceptional signing for West Ham.
He bagged 16 goals and four assists in 34 games for the La Liga side last season (Transfermarkt).
The 25-year-old can play anywhere across the front-line and already has experience of playing in the Premier League.
Danjuma has pace and power in abundance and made his name on the very biggest stage in the Champions League last season. He has been described as a ‘sensational’ player by Manchester Evening News.
We would have absolutely loved to see Villarreal ace Arnaut Danjuma join West Ham.
Perhaps this is one that David Moyes can revisit in either the January transfer window or next summer.
