ExWHUemployee claimed that West Ham’s interest in Luka Jovic is very much real, when speaking on the West Ham Way podcast last night (Wednesday, November 4th). He did suggest that a deal to sign the Serbian is nowhere near close as things stand, however.

The Mirror (November 1st, page 61) claimed on Sunday that the Hammers want to sign the 22-year-old Los Blancos ace.

Jovic joined Real Madrid from Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer of 2019 for around £55 million (AS). It was at the same time as West Ham striker Sebastien Haller moved to the London Stadium from the same club for around £45 million (BBC).

The eight-capped Serbia international has really struggled under Zinedine Zidane at the Santiago Bernabeu, however.

He has registered just two goals and two assists in 31 games for the La Liga giants (Transfermarkt).

Reuniting Jovic with Haller could be a masterstroke, however. And ExWHUemployee claimed that West Ham are indeed interested in signing the 22-year-old Madrid forward, when speaking on the West Ham Wy podcast last night:

“There is some interest in Jovic. We keep getting linked with him. There is interest for obvious reasons including Haller. A deal to loan him is nowhere near happening at the moment, however. We could explore it in January.”

Despite Jovic’s recent struggles, bringing him to West Ham would be a very wise move from David Moyes.

Especially if it was a loan deal with an option to buy, as that would entail minimal risk for the Hammers.

The Serbian seems lost at Madrid. The 22-year-old is still a quality player, however. Perhaps he just needs a change in order to rediscover his best form.

And playing at West Ham alongside his old mate Haller might just be the best place for him to do just that.
