A Dillian Whyte knock-out performance stunned Alexander Povetkin in their highly anticipated rematch in Gibraltar last night. And West Ham United need to take inspiration from the London boxer’s comeback against the Russian.

Whyte suffered a horrific knock-out defeat by Povetkin only seven months ago.

And that’s exactly what the Hammers need to do

Dillian Whyte knock-out should inspire West Ham

The Hammers threw away a three-goal lead against Arsenal at the London Stadium last time out.

David Moyes and the players have had to stew on that result for the past week and they have to wait another eight days until they are able to put that ‘knockout blow’ behind them.

West Ham need to take inspiration from the way Dillian Whyte bounced back against Alexander Povetkin in Gibraltar last night.

The 32-year-old suffered a knockout blow in August but bounced back against all odds to take revenge on the Russian last night.

Many fans and pundits have written West Ham off in the race for the top four after their collapse against Arsenal.

David Moyes’s men need to make a statement against Wolves in eight days time. We need to bounce back and prove that our second-half capitulation against Arsenal was a one-off.

The Hammers players need to stand up and be counted and realise that we can achieve a top four place if we continue to work hard and take our chances when we’re given them.

West Ham need to channel their inner Dillian Whyte. We were knocked down to the canvas last weekend. Now’s the time to get back up and deliver a knockout blow of our own.
