David Moyes got his tactics and team selection spot on against Everton and in fairness we really should have won more comfortably in the end.

One decision that raised some eyebrows prior to kick-off was the inclusion of right-back Ryan Fredericks in the starting lineup.

The 29-year-old has been very poor this season and has field to establish himself under Moyes.

The former Fulham man got the nod against Everton on Sunday though with Ben Johnson out injured and Vladimir Coufal having only just returned from groin surgery.

Fredericks struggled at times during the first-half but he improved drastically after half-time and was arguably our best player during the second 45 minutes.

The 23-year-old often goes on holiday with the 29-year-old right-back during the summer break.

Rice respects Fredericks greatly and when West Ham posted an official tweet about the ex-Fulham defender after our win over Everton, Dec responded:

With Johnson still out injured and Coufal not match fit, Fredericks may well get the nod against Lyon in the Europa League on Thursday night.

The 29-year-old is out of contract with West Ham in the summer.

Fredericks needs to make some big statements to David Moyes if he is to have any kind of future at the London Stadium.

If he puts in more performances like he did against Everton on Sunday though, he may well be given an extension on his current deal.
