The 28-year-old joined that Hammers on loan from the Red Devils in January for the remainder of the season.
Lingard has already made a huge impact with West Ham. And he is expected to make his London Stadium debut tomorrow night against Sheffield United.
The 24-capped England international has struggled for form over the past 12 months. He never lost his class, however.
Sir Alex Ferguson passes Jesse Lingard message to David Moyes
He’s had a great footballing education since he was a young boy.
Sir Alex Ferguson was in charge at Old Trafford when Lingard was coming through the ranks at Manchester United.
And David Moyes told the Daily Mail the message Fergie asked him to pass on to his former player:
“He’s only here in the short term but already I’ve spoken with Sir Alex, who asked me to pass on his best to Jesse. He mentioned he was thinking about him because Sir Alex had him as a boy at Old Trafford. That just shows you the interest Sir Alex has in all the young players he had, all his teams and all his clubs he shows a great interest in them and he was pleased Jesse got off to a good start.”
Lingard has already proven to be a superb addition for West Ham.
If he produces his best stuff between now and May, there is no reason why the Hammers can’t finish inside the top six.
And maybe then we might be able to convince him to join us on a permanent deal.
Sir Alex has clearly been impressed by Lingard’s start at West Ham. And so have the Hammers fans.
Let’s just hope that we get to see him playing in east London for the next few years.
