David Moyes shares there biggest problem he has with West Ham youngster Mipo Odubeko

West Ham United boss David Moyes admitted that his biggest problem with young striker Mipo Odubeko is that he hasn’t actually seen that much of him over the past three months, as quoted by Claret and Hugh.

The Hammers are incredibly light in the centre-forward department.

Moyes failed to bring another striker to the London Stadium in January, instead preferring to save his money for the summer.

That decision leaves Michail Antonio as West Ham’s only recognised senior centre-forward.

Hopefully, Mipo will get a chance during the second half of the season.

David Moyes’ admission makes striker decision seem even more bizarre

The 18-year-old may well be a long way off being ready for Premier League action, however.

David Moyes told reporters yesterday how the fact that he hasn’t seen much of the teenager in action is a big problem, as quoted by Claret and Hugh:

“My biggest problem is I haven’t seen much of him over the last three months because he had a really bad hamstring injury but he’s back training and I’ve been quite impressed by him daily. He’s getting closer but I just need to see a bit more of him.

Moyes’s admission on Mipo makes his decision not to sign a striker in January seem all the more baffling.

The Scot is really playing with fire. Let’s just hope that Antonio doesn’t pull up with an hamstring injury between now and the end of the season.

And if Michy does suffer an injury, Moyes had better hope that Mipo is ready to step up and take his chance at Premier League level.

Judging by the Scot’s comments, however, he will be more likely to utilise Andriy Yarmolenko or Jesse Lingard in the centre-forward position.
