West Ham manager David Moyes has provided an injury update on Aaron Cresswell ahead of our Premier League clash with Liverpool on Saturday evening.
The 32-year-old left-back missed the Hammers’ FA Cup defeat to Southampton at St Mary’s last night due to injury.
When Cresswell doesn’t play West Ham miss him so much.
It is clear to see that we take for granted the outlet that he offers down the left hand flank.
The experienced defender has been a key man throughout West Ham’s resurgence over the past 18 months.
Cresswell bagged eight assists in 36 Premier League games last season and this term he’s racked up seven assists in 26 games in all competitions (Transfermarkt).
We certainly missed Aaron last night and with such an important run of fixtures lying ahead, his absence against Southampton was a real concern.
David Moyes shares injury update ahead of West Ham clash with Liverpool
The Hammers head to Anfield to take on an in-form Liverpool side.
The Reds will be absolutely buzzing, having won the Carabao Cup at Wembley against Chelsea on Sunday.
Jurgen Klopp has built a truly amazing team at Liverpool and West Ham will have our work cut-out if we are to take anything from Saturday’s game.
David Moyes has shared some good news for West Ham ahead of our clash with the Reds, however.
The Scot spoke to reporters last night and provided an injury update on Aaron Cresswell ahead of West Ham United’s game against Liverpool, as quoted by Football.London:
“They have injuries (Cresswell and Noble) and it was a blow to miss them tonight.”
Moyes then responded when asked whether Cresswell is in contention to face Liverpool:
“He will be in contention.”
Thank God for that.
Of course, if Cresswell is unable to start the game then Pablo Fornals will probably deputise in the left wing-back role.
As well as the Spaniard has done in that particular role, having Cresswell fit will be a big boost for the Hammers prior to kick-off at Anfield.
It won’t be easy to take a positive result from the clash with Liverpool, but having the 32-year-old left-back in the team will give us a far greater chance of doing so.
