David Moyes has hinted that he might change the West Ham penalty taker after Jarrod Bowen missed from the spot against Liverpool.

The 25-year-old Hammers attacker missed his penalty on Wednesday night at Anfield, and it ended up costing us dear.

West Ham lost the game 1-0 in the end, but we really should have taken a positive result away with us from Liverpool.

The Bowen penalty miss was hugely important at the time, and had he scored, we may well have gone on to win.

Because of that, it may well be time for a reshuffle in the penalty taker department at the London Stadium.

And Moyes has alluded to that when speaking to the media…

David Moyes hints at West Ham change after Jarrod Bowen miss

The 25-year-old scored the two previous penalties that he took for West Ham, although he did miss two for Hull City from six attempts (Transfermarkt).

He just didn’t look like he was ever going to score when he stepped top from 12 yards out against Liverpool.

And Moyes has admitted that he might be forced into a rethink when it comes to who will be the West Ham penally taker from now on, as quoted by Football.London:

I have got to say Jarrod was practising on Tuesday before we went up to Anfield. It is certainly not for the lack of practice that’s for sure. Sometimes you have very good goalkeepers, sometimes you might take the penalty as well as you like. You always think you should have done something differently maybe. All those elements come into it. Ultimately we didn’t score, it’s part of football and always has been. No, we will always keep practising and trying to get a good account from it. Not necessarily, it could still be someone else. We changed when Declan missed. We might change now as well. We will see. In the main on the night I felt that Jarrod will score, I really did.

In my opinion, Gianluca Scamacca should be West Ham’s penalty taker.

He is the best finisher at the London Stadium, and if Moyes makes him our designated spot-kick taker, he will be almost guaranteed another three or four goals per season.

Jarrod Bowen was unfortunate to miss his penalty against Liverpool for West Ham, and David Moyes will be fully aware that that can happen to anyone.

It might well be time to give someone else a chance though. And Scamacca is the ideal man for the job in my opinion.
