David Moyes has just made a stunning and very bold claim by suggesting that his West Ham team still aren’t anywhere near their best!
That’s exactly what we want to be hearing from our manager.
The Hammers have made incredible strides over the past 22 months since Davids Moyes took over for the second time at the London Stadium.
It really is unbelievable when you think where we were in December 2019 as a football club and where we are now.
Could things still get a lot better for West Ham though? Moyes certainly thinks they could.
David Moyes makes stunning and bold claim
The Scot clearly has very grand plans for West Ham.
Moyes is very ambitious and told Football.London how he believes there is so much to come from this current Hammers squad:
“I feel we are playing a good style. I want us to be attacking and entertaining but I also want to be defensive and ruthless when we have to be. I’ve said to the players this morning that we have got a long way to go to reach the levels we really want to be at. I’m looking for things to be much better, clean, crisper in all our play. I don’t think we are anywhere near our top levels and that we will continue to improve.”
Moyes went on to highlight how he expects his players and staff to maintain levels of the very highest order:
“I’m certainly not letting up. And this has to come from the manager, the coaching staff and we need to keep pushing and making the demands on the players even bigger. But I’m really pleased with way they are responding. The turnaround I’ve had in a couple of years has been incredible from them.”
How good is that to hear for us fans.
This West Ham team is the best I have seen in 37 years of supporting the club.
The idea that we could get even better is an incredibly exciting one.
As long as we keep our best players at the London Stadium, anything is possible.
And with Moyes at the helm, the future its very bright indeed at West Ham.
