West Ham United manager David Moyes has completely contradicted himself with his laughable Gianluca Scamacca claim.
The Italian hitman joined the Hammers from Sassuolo in the summer transfer window for around £35 million (Sky Sports).
Unfortunately for Scamacca though, he has really struggled to establish himself at the London Stadium so far.

Scamacca has been totally isolated through the middle with little to no support. As a result, his confidence has really suffered. Last night’s goal was his first in eight games.
Moyes discussed Scamacca’s lack of confidence on Tuesday afternoon, as quoted by the Evening Standard:
I don’t think you would expect him to be full of confidence when he’s not scoring goals. Gianluca, once he got started, got us a few goals in Europe and a few goals in the Premier League so we’ve got to hope he gets back to that. We believe in him, but when you’re a striker and not scoring then confidence can be a problem.
Those comments just don’t ring true from Moyes though. And two things have proven just how devoid from reality the Scot actually is…
David Moyes makes embarrassing Gianluca Scamacca claim
Firstly, if the Scot was really concerned by the Italian’s lack of confidence, why on earth would he have taken him off after 68 minutes against Leeds last night – only 20 minutes after he scored a superb goal for us?
And secondly, Moyes contradicted himself with his comments on Scamacca after last night’s game, as quoted by Football.London:

Gianluca has got that type of goal in him. I need him to start scoring ones inside the box and headers and tap-ins and things off the goalkeeper. I’m really pleased for him and hopefully, it can give him confidence to build up and score more for us.
What on earth is Moyes on about?
So he wants Scamacca to gain confidence and start scoring more goals inside the box, yet takes him off last night just after he’s scored and was flying high on confidence with 25 minutes still to play?
Sorry David but it just doesn’t add up.
Like so many things the Scot says, there was no basis or reason behind his latest remarks.
If David Moyes really wants to get the best out of Gianluca Scamacca, then he needs to get players in and around him and play him for the full 90 minutes for at least 10 games in a row. It really is as simple as that.
