West Ham boss David Moyes delivered his verdict on the performance of Jarrod Bowen against Norwich City last night.

The Hammers won the game 2-0 and climbed into fourth spot in the Premier League table in the process.

It was a vital three points for West Ham. That’s now three Premier League wins in a row after having taken just one point from our three previous league outings.

And Jarrod Bowen has played a key role for the Hammers during the resurgence after our mini dip in from.

The 25-year-old forward has been absolutely brilliant for West Ham this season. His numbers really have been impressive.

Bowen has bagged eight goals and 10 assists in 30 games for the East London outfit so far this season (Who Scored).

The former Hull City ace is pushing really hard for a call-up to Gareth Southgate’s England squad. It could be argued that he is actually the best right winger that England boss Southgate has at his disposal at the moment.

Bowen is one of the best players David Moyes has at his disposal at the London Stadium. The Scot clearly trusts the 25-year-old attacker implicitly.

It is Moyes’s style to play down praise for his players in the hope of pushing them harder and getting even more out of them.

And the 58-year-old responded to reporters last night when asked what he thought of Bowen’s display against the Canaries at the London Stadium, as quoted by Football.London:

“I think you’re hoping the players when they come from the Championship they can develop and get used to the Premier League. I think near enough from the start Jarrod has done really well. I think he’s taking to it really well because he can play wide, through the middle and score goals. He is a wide player who not just puts crosses in or assists, now the biggest thing is he’s back on a bit of goal form, which we needed. I have to say I think Jarrod is improving, I did not think he played well in the first half tonight but I thought he made a big difference in the second half.”

Classic Moyes. And we love it.

The Scot is clearly absolutely delighted with what Jarrod Bowen is doing on the pitch. How could you not be?!

Moyes will never admit that in public though. He wants the West Ham ace to continue to push himself to the absolute limit.

One thing’s for sure, the 25-year-old has the ability, talent and potential to get better and better.

Sure, Bowen wasn’t at his best in the first-half. He wasn’t bad at all either though, let’s have it right. He scored a brilliant header and had a goal chalked off by VAR, perhaps unfairly so.

The former Hull City ace put in his usual tireless shift down the right-hand side, offering cover and support for Vladimir Coufal.

Bowen stepped it up a level in the second-half and completely ran the show. The 25-year-old is probably in the best form of his career at the moment.

It’s clear that Moyes believes he can get even more out of the hard-working winger though.

And if Bowen does reach even higher levels, it could be argued that he would be close to being classed as a genuine world-class footballer.
