Central midfield is certainly an area at the London Stadium where Moyes would like to improve this summer.

More quality competition and cover is required for Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek.

The problem for the West Ham boss is that he arguably needs to strengthen his centre-forward and centre-back ranks even more than he does his engine room.

And with funds tight in east London (Claret and Hugh), that represents an obvious problem. Just think fo the money required to bring in someone on a similar level to Dec and Tomas!

The 21-year-old and 19-year-old midfielders have really impressed during pre-season.

Coventry and Ekwah Elimby both have impressive technical ability but they’ve also showcased a real physical side to their games that has surprised some people this summer.

The talented starlets have really stepped up and it’s not an exaggeration to say that neither player would look out of place in a Premier League game.

Whether Moyes trusts them enough to play first-team football this season is another matter entirely.
