West Ham were deserved 3-2 winners thanks to a superb last gasp goal from Andriy Yarmolenko.

It meant the east Londoners completed the double over Chelsea this season and have only lost two of the last nine matches against the Blues.

No love lost between West Ham and Chelsea

A number of homegrown players defected from West Ham to Chelsea in John Terry, Frank Lampard, Joe Cole and Glen Johnson.

But one who went the other way was former Hammers striker Carlton Cole.

The forward started his career at Chelsea but only made 25 appearances over four years before being shipped out on several loans.

West Ham made a permanent move for Cole in 2006 and he went on to spend nine seasons with the club scoring 68 goals in 293 games.

Cole was criticised by bitter Chelsea fans for celebrating West Ham’s success when he appeared as a guest on Sky Sports’s new watch-along coverage.

Cole hits back at salty Blues fans with epic rant

And the loveable striker bit back on Twitter in an epic rant putting Blues fans in their place. Cole made clear where his allegiances lay.

“How any Chelsea supporter can criticise me for celebrating West Ham scoring and winning is beyond me,” Cole said after receiving abuse online.

“Let’s get this right! I’m supposed to not celebrate because you gave me a chance in my youth days?

“Of course I’m grateful for that but I spent my best and longest years at the Hammers who gave me a chance too and continue to give me support in my coaching development.

‘Don’t be bitter’

“Plus we needed the points to stay in the league. Circumstances have made it this way. Not that I don’t want Chelsea to do well, but I’d celebrate like that against any team we grinded a win from especially in these times.

“Don’t be bitter. Chelsea will always hold a special place in my heart.”

To rub salt in the wound the defeat to West Ham could cost Chelsea dear in the race for the Champions League places.

West Ham were also led by man of the match contender and captain Declan Rice, who was released by Chelsea at 14.
