Ryan Fredericks absolutely raved about Aaron Cresswell before West Ham play host to Bournemouth in the Premier League tonight.

The 30-year-old right-back left West Ham to join Bournemouth on a free transfer in the summer, and he’s set to come up against many of his old teammates tonight.

The fleet-footed defender posted a really classy message after his West Ham exit.

Fredericks spent four years at the London Stadium, and during his time there, he forged a tight bond with Declan Rice and Aaron Cresswell.

The ex-Fulham man always was exceptionally quick, but his defensive positional sense left a lot to be desired in truth.

He has actually been a real hit with Bournemouth, and is playing some of the best football of his life. Good luck to him. Let’s hope that his form, and his team’s, take a turn for the worse tonight.

The Hammers are in desperate need of a win. Ironically, since Fredericks left, one particular area where we have really struggled is at right-back.

Perhaps it was a case of ‘you don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone’!

Fredericks has spoke glowingly about West Ham since leaving…

Bournemouth ace Ryan Fredericks raves about West Ham star

The 30-year-old right-back sat down for an interview with the Hammers’ official website alongside Declan Rice, ahead of tonight’s clash at the London Stadium.

And the Bournemouth right-back made it very clear just how much he respects West Ham’s longest serving current player:

Cress is my boy. He’s had an unbelievable career, but my money is on myself to get the better of him and Dec.

Cresswell joined West Ham from Ipswich Town in 2014 for around £4 million (Mirror).

The 32-year-old has gone on to make 306 appearances for the Hammers (Transfermarkt).

Now, he isn’t the player he once was, and has undoubtedly regressed in general over the past 12 months or so.

We have to say though, the left-back has shown big improvements in recent games for West Ham. He was particularly good against Liverpool on Wednesday night.

One thing that he really lacks is pace. Hopefully he won’t be left exposed tonight, and Fredericks won’t be able to exploit his former teammate’s weakness in that particular department.

West Ham need a win against Bournemouth tonight. Nothing less than that will do.

Let’s hope that our former player doesn’t come back to haunt us!
