Jamie Carragher was critical of Lukasz Fabianski’s display for West Ham against Liverpool last night, when speaking during Sky Sports’ coverage of the game (Saturday October 31st, 17:56).

The 35-year-old Hammers goalkeeper has struggled for form and consistency since returning from injury in December last year.
West Ham signed the 54-capped Poland international from Swansea City in the summer of 2018 for around £7 million (BBC).
He proved to be an instant hit at the London Stadium. But Fabianski doesn’t seem to be the same player anymore.
The Polish stopper seems to be lacking in confidence and he certainly isn’t the calm and reassuring presence at the back for the Hammers that he once was.
Jamie Carragher suggested that the 35-year-old’s performance last night should be a big worry for West Ham fans, when speaking during Sky Sports’ coverage of the game:
“It’s a big worry for West Ham. That was twice that the goalkeeper spilled it. And they were very lucky that there wasn’t any Liverpool players to put it into an empty net. He just completely missed it.”
The challenge for Fabianski now will be to rediscover the form that he was showing consistently 12-18 months ago.
He is 35 now, however. So perhaps David Moyes should be planning for the future and identifying West Ham’s next number one goalkeeper.
We do have Nathan Trott and Joseph Anang coming through the ranks of course. But it could be argued that neither of those players are anywhere near ready to be playing regular Premier League football.
Much will depend on how much money Moyes has to spend in both the January and summer transfer windows.
