There is still a big reward on offer for West Ham United when they take on Aston Villa tonight.

West Ham started the weekend in eighth place following back-to-back 1-0 victories over Fulham and Sheffield United.

The Hammers have slipped down to 11th due to results elsewhere.

Hammers can be Prem’s biggest movers

But David Moyes’s side can still be the biggest movers of this Premier League game week when they take on Villa at the London Stadium in the Monday night football.

Victory for West Ham will push them up SIX places in the table to the dizzy heights of fifth with over a quarter of the season gone.

It would be just reward for what has been an excellent start to a season in which they were handed one of the toughest fixture schedules in memory.

But West Ham are also turning up for the games against so-called lesser sides this term. And that is making all the difference.

Uncharacteristically consistent West Ham entertain patchy Villa without Barkley

While Villa’s form is patchy, of late West Ham’s is uncharacteristically consistent.

Moyes will be hoping to take advantage of some major boosts for West Ham.

Michail Antonio should be back – at least on the bench. And Villa will be without key man Ross Barkley.

It could also play into West Ham’s hands that Jack Grealish has been hitting the headlines for all the wrong reasons.

The brilliant playmaker will go before the courts next month after he pleaded guilty to two charges over driving offences.

This time the spoils of war are very different for two transformed sides

The prospect of jumping to fifth also applies to Villa.

West Ham and Villa drew 1-1 at the London Stadium in the final game of last season.

Grealish and Andriy Yarmolenko scored that day as Villa secured survival.

How things have changed this term with both teams completely transformed.

Now the spoils of war are very different.

A move up to a very significant position in the table and no doubt a place aboard the hype train in this wide open Premier League season.
