Aston Villa could ruin West Ham's alleged plan as Smith reportedly wants £13m man mountain

According to a report from Italian media outlet Il Secolo XIX, Aston Villa want to sign alleged West Ham target Omar Colley this summer.

According to a report from Sampdoria News, the Hammers are interested in signing the 27-year-old centre-back this summer.

David Moyes will likely be on the look-out for a new centre-back this summer.

Angelo Ogbonna was superb last season, but he probably only has two or three years left at the very highest level.

Meanwhile, Issa Diop, Fabian Balbuena and Winston Reid have all been linked with exits from the London Stadium.

Dean Smith is in the same boat at Villa Park, however, after his side conceded 67 goals in 38 Premier League games last season.

Sampdoria ace Omar Colley would be a great option for the Hammers. It seems as though Aston Villa could stand in their way, however.

The Serie A side are allegedly prepared to sell the 27-year-old for around £13 million (Calcio Mercato).

In 31 Serie A appearances for Sampdoria last season, Colley averaged 1.4 tackles, 1.9 interceptions, 4.8 clearances and 0.7 blocks per game. He also won 2.8 aerial duals per game on average during those outings (Who Scored).

Standing at 6ft 3in tall, Colley is an absolute man mountain. With his powerful and imposing physique, Colley seems to be ideally suited to the robust nature of the Premier League.

The Gambia international is exactly the kind of player West Ham should be signing this summer. Let’s just hope that the board back Moyes in the transfer market.

As we all know, however, that is highly unlikely. And it would be no surprise to see Colley head off to Aston Villa this summer instead.
