David Moyes will be keen to bolster his back-line this summer.

Angelo Ogbonna has been great this season. But he has just turned 32. And Issa Diop and Winston Reid both face uncertain futures in east London.

And according to a report from 90 Min, West Ham want to sign PSG defender Thiago Silva in an effort to address that particular issue.

In truth, that link does seem pretty tenuous.

For a start, the 35-year-old currently earns a whopping £300,000 per week (Sport Bible). And the South American will surely want to join a club with aspirations of winning the league and/or challenging in Europe.

But if the Hammers really are interested in signing Silva, their task might have just got a lot harder.

Bleacher Report claims Tottenham and Arsenal are in the hunt to sign the PSG centre-back.

Jose Mourinho and Mikel Arteta are both thought to be on the look-out for defensive reinforcements. Jan Vertonghen’s future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is uncertain to say the least. And the same can be said of David Luiz at the Emirates.

If it is a choice between Spurs, the Gunners or West Ham for Silva, the east Londoners surely stand little chance.

At 35, the experienced centre-back is arguably past his best. But he certainly still has a lot to offer for at least another one or two years.

The 89-capped brazil international really would have been a shock signing for West Ham, had David Moyes managed to lure him to the London Stadium this summer.

But that is now looking even more unlikely.
