Alan Shearer used one word to describe Declan Rice after his incredible display for West Ham vs Newcastle on Saturday.
The 24-year-old put in a virtuoso performance at St James’ Park against Newcastle, and it seemed like finally the rest of the footballing world has now woken up to just how good he is.

It is widely believed that the 39-capped England international will leave the London Stadium at the end of the season, by which time he’ll have two years remaining on his current contract (including the one-year extension option that the club hold).

The ex-Newcastle striker compiles his team of the week on a weekly basis for the Premier League’s official website.
And this week, Rice made his team. Shearer used one word to describe the Hammers star’s performance at St James’ Park:

“At the heart of everything good West Ham United did – superb.”
Shearer is spot on, Rice really was superb, and he totally dominated the midfield.
We’ve reached a point now where we have to really appreciate the 24-year-old, and enjoy him for the remainder of the season. Because I have no doubt in my mind that he will be off in the summer.
Declan Rice gave Newcastle a first hand glimpse at just how good he is with his performance for West Ham on Saturday.
And I reckon that his display made every other Premier League super club stand up and take notice as well.
