Alan Irvine will be stepping down as West Ham United assistant manager due to personal reasons (The Athletic).

And some Hammers fans are really worried about the shock announcement.
The Scot has been part of the backroom team assembled by David Moyes since he returned to the London Stadium as West Ham boss in December 2019.

Irvine has performed admirably and he is clearly a man who Moyes trusts and respects.
Losing him as our assistant manager will undoubtedly be a very big blow for the Hammers.
It has been reported that Irvine will remain at the club in some kind of consultancy role.
It is still gutting, however, considering how much he brought to his role.

Hammers boss David Moyes will now have to appoint a new number two. Quite who that will be remains to be seen but Billy McKinlay is thought to be a leading candidate to replace his fellow countryman (Daily Mail).
