22-year-old West Ham ace could be sold this summer, insider claims

West Ham United youngster Conor Coventry allegedly could be sold this summer as David Moyes continues the huge overhaul at the London Stadium.

That’s according to club insiders Claret and Hugh who claim that the 22-year-old could be sold this summer with just one year remaining on his current contract with the Hammers.

The 22-year-old Hammers midfielder has impressed during recent loan spells with Lincoln City, Peterborough United and MK Dons respectively.

He’s now back at the London Stadium though and will harbour hopes of breaking into the first-team this season.

Coventry certainly has a lot of ability. The question is whether he’s actually good enough to be playing regular Premier League football.

And it seems as though David Moyes may think that he might not be..

West Ham ace could be sold

Claret and Hugh reckon that with just 12 months remaining on Coventry’s current Hammers deal, Moyes could decide to move him on now, rather than risk losing him for nothing next year.

The 22-year-old is a good footballer. His passing is crisp and incise but in all fairness, he doesn’t really offer that much at either end of the pitch.

Conor may well go on to have a decent career. We strongly believe that he is not quite at the level needed to be playing Premier League football just yet though.

David Moyes is incredibly light as far as his central midfield options are concerned.

Mark Noble has retired whilst Alex Kral will almost certainly be sent back to Spartak Moscow, leaving Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek as West Ham’s only two central midfielders.

So the fact that the Scot is even contemplating selling the Republic of Ireland under-21 international tells us a lot.

And with C&H claiming that the West Ham ace could be sold this summer, there may well be another high-profile exit from our academy on the cards.
