West Ham United will go 10th and within striking distance of the European battle as the Premier League table tightens.

Following a dismal start to the new season the Hammers found themselves at the wrong end of the table.

That was until a recent revival which saw wins over Wolves and Fulham and a draw against Southampton.

West Ham should have beaten Saints comfortably and taken a point against Liverpool at Anfield but instead of four points recorded just one from those two games.

Now Bournemouth come to the London Stadium on Monday night and West Ham are very much at a crossroads in their season.

With all the teams in and around the Hammers having now played, West Ham’s aims have become crystal clear.

West Ham have dropped right down to 17th – one place off the bottom three – off the back of results elsewhere.

But Brentford’s thrashing at the hands of Aston Villa means that victory over Bournemouth is crucial.

West Ham will go 10th and within striking distance of the European battle as results tighten the table.

Victory for West Ham will elevate David Moyes’ side seven places – right up into the top half for the first time this season.

And the Hammers will be just one win off leapfrogging Liverpool into eighth – two points off seventh-placed Fulham – and sixth placed Newcastle depending on their result against Spurs.

West Ham simply must get back to winning ways as it could completely change the complexion of the season.

With their place in the Europa Conference League knockouts already secured, West Ham need to try and get in and around those European spots heading into the World Cup break.

Then when the Premier League resumes on Boxing Day, West Ham – hopefully with no injuries from the World Cup – can really attack the league until the Conference League starts up again for them in March.

The Prem is so tight this season West Ham could have ended up in the relegation zone on Sunday and top 10 on Monday.

Now is the time to string a couple of wins together to really push into and cement their place in the top half.
