A stunning statistic has emerged showing West Ham United are a much better side when Said Benrahma starts.
It is fair to say Benrahma’s time at West Ham so far has not been plain sailing.
Benrahma has been something of a bit-part player under David Moyes who has elected to ease the £25m man in gently.
Benrahma having to earn his Hammers stripes
After 26 Premier League appearances the 25-year-old is yet to score his first goal for West Ham.
But the Algerian put in arguably his best performance for West Ham in the scintillating 2-1 victory over Burnley on Monday night.
Benrahma added another assist to take his tally to five – all of which have resulted in West Ham winning matches.
Even so Benrahma still did not last the 90 minutes, being withdrawn for Jarrod Bowen much to the bemusement of West Ham fans.
Moyes has been strict with Benrahma.
The Scot has demanded he do more defensively, be more efficient with the ball and warned he must stop trying to force that first goal.
Some West Ham fans feel Moyes has been harsh with playmaker
The Algerian was famous for his audacious skill and moments in games – particularly for Brentford – which went viral online.
But he is having to earn his West Ham stripes with hard graft.
Some West Ham fans feel Moyes treats Benrahma harshly. And many were quick to spot the Scot berating Benrahma after an errant cross at the end of the first half against the Clarets.
Of Benrahma’s 28 appearances across all competitions only 15 have been starts.
But an astonishing new stat proves West Ham are simply a better team with him starting.
Unreal statistic shows West Ham are a better side when Benrahma starts
West Ham have won 11, drawn three and lost just one of the 15 games Benrahma has started.
In those matches West Ham have scored 28 goals and conceded 14.
The stat, posted on Twitter by West Ham fan and journalist Dan Woffenden, shows Benrahma is a difference maker for the Hammers.
Moyes has suggested Benrahma has a big role to play in West Ham’s push for Europe over the last four games.
Based on this stat the Hammers would be well served in their quest to win all of them in a bid to seal a dream Champions League spot.
