Opta Joe has posted an incredible stat about new West Ham United star striker Gianluca Scamacca which proves he’s elite.

The Italy international looks every inch a top class striker. And there’s plenty of them in his towering 6ft 5in frame.

In many ways it has been a breakthrough week for Scamacca at West Ham.

David Moyes had called for patience and understanding from journalists and Hammers fans over his decision to drip-feed Scamacca into the action after his £35m move from Sassuolo in the summer.

A nasty virus took a lot out of the forward in his first few weeks at the London Stadium.

Now, though, Scamacca – who was personally coached by football great Ruud van Nistelrooy when a young player at PSV – is starting games and looking the part.

He scored his first Premier League goal in the 2-0 win over Wolves last week and what a cracker it was too, a half volley from the edge of the box to finish off a move the 23-year-old started.

Scamacca then scored another expertly taken finish to see off Anderlecht on Thursday night in Europe.

And he was at it again in the 3-1 win over Fulham, combining with Lucas Paqueta once more to produce a delicate chip over Bernd Leno and put West Ham on their way to all three points.

Having already scored three goals in Europe prior to this week, Scamacca is well and truly firing now.

Moyes pointed out how enthused he is by the fact Scamacca is scoring a variety of different goals – headers, first time finishes, volleys, instinctive precise finishes, powerful strikes from distance and now delicate chips.

In the wake of his goal against Fulham a statistic was posted on social media that underlines what a player West Ham have signed.

Opta Joe posted an incredible stat about new West Ham star Scamacca which proves he’s elite.

“Gianluca Scamacca (6 goals) is the highest scoring Italian player in all competitions across Europe’s big five leagues this season,” Opta Joe posted on Twitter.

“While among Premier League players, only Erling Haaland (20), Harry Kane (8) and Phil Foden (7) have netted more. Deft.”

No wonder the likes of PSG were being linked with West Ham’s new man in the summer.

Scamacca will surely go on to become West Ham’s all-time leading Premier League goalscorer. At least if the Hammers can keep hold of him long enough!

Because West Ham’s physical freak with technique is just getting started.
