West Ham United boss David Moyes vowed he would not allow his side to be bullied by VAR decision-makers but it is falling on deaf ears.
‘Possibly’ ExWHUemployee delivers latest verdict on West Ham takeover rumours
That’s if the events of last night’s incredibly harsh 3-0 defeat to Chelsea are anything to go by.
West Ham were arguably the better side – yet again – for much of the match.
But in what is becoming an increasingly frequent theme, failure to take their chances cost the Hammers dear.
VAR – or lack of its use – played a major part again too, though. Moyes was furious with the officials after the match without going into any detail for fear of reprisals.

West Ham robbed by flaky VAR again as Top Four TV gloss over the facts
West Ham were robbed by VAR’s failure to rule out Manchester United’s equaliser the last time Moyes’s side lost a game.
And it was the same old story as West Ham had two perfectly good goals ruled out without any lengthy or proper VAR checks at Stamford Bridge.
Footage has emerged on social media showing both Declan Rice and Jarrod Bowen goals should have stood.
Rice’s goal was ruled offside. But the usual forensic checks using lines and grids were not run and the incident was just glossed over by the increasingly biased Sky Sports commentary and punditry teams.

Rice onside and no contact whatsoever from Bowen as Hammers have perfectly good goals chalked off
If that was not bad enough, Bowen’s strike was ruled out for a foul on Thiago Silva.
But slow-motion replays clearly showed the winger made absolutely no contact with the Brazilian whatsoever.
That incident was also brushed off by the commentators and barely even touched on by Top Four TV.
Bowen, Rice and West Ham’s players are perhaps at fault too. They should have protested more vociferously to force more detailed checks.
The footage will leave West Ham fans sick this morning.

Footage will leave West Ham fans sick… but not as sick as they are of lack of striker options
But not as sick as they are with the club’s lack of forward options.
Sebastien Haller once again ploughed a lonely furrow up front.
Lugging his big frame pointlessly chasing down defenders and trying to run channels, wasting his energy in a team setup which simply does not suit his style of play and never will.
Whether West Ham’s cheapskate owners David Sullivan and David Gold do right by the fans and Moyes in January and sign the reinforcements needed remains to be seen.
But the fact is everyone could see another forward, defensive midfielder and left-back was needed in the summer and nothing was done about it.
