Patrick Kelly has opened up on what convinced him to join West Ham United after moving to the London Stadium from Coleraine on a three-year deal.

The Hammers allegedly fought off strong competition for Kelly’s signature, with numerous Premier League clubs trying to sign him.

It seems as though David Moyes is intent on making our youth setup one of the very best in the Premier League. And that’s a very good thing indeed.

Kelly is certainly one of the brightest young talents in Britain and it will be interesting to see how he develops with the under-23s over the course of the next few years.

West Ham have allegedly agreed to sign the 17-year-old in a deal that includes add-ons and a sell-on clause, although the actual fee we have paid is undetermined.

But what convinced Kelly that West Ham was the right move for him?

The talented teenager has the ability to go on and become a huge hit at the London Stadium.

West Ham have done very well to win the race for the 17-year-old.

And Kelly spoke to WHUFC.com about what convinced him to join the Hammers:

“My family and I came over a week ago and everybody around the Club was so welcoming. From the people at the training ground, to everyone at the Club house, everybody around the Club made it such an easy decision to me. Of course, West Ham is also a big Club as well, which helped the decision too. I didn’t actually realise how big the Club was until I came here. I knew West Ham was a big Club but, once I came here, I realised how massive West Ham was. I’m really excited to be here.”

A right-footed central midfielder, the 17-year-old bagged one goal and four assists in 29 games for Coleraine last season (Transfermarkt).

He possesses impressive technique and has exceptional vision.

The young Northern Irishman does seem like a proper talent.

The fact that so many Premier League cubs wanted to sign him tells us all we need to know about him.

Judging by the comments form Patrick Kelly though, joining West Ham was an easy decision to make in the end.
